"Sometimes the strength of motherhood is greater than natural laws"
~ Barbara Kingsolver
This is an old photo which I scanned this morning because here in the UK we celebrate Mother's Day today. It's a photo of my mother but the baby is a brother I never knew because he was born in 1946 (long before me) and died of viral meningitis at the age of two. My mother went on to give birth in later years to twins - two boys which were stillborn. After that she was told it was nigh on impossible to have any more chidren when out of the blue twinkle in my dad's eye ;-) I made my arrival on the scene. I had a happy childhood filled with love, yet I also lived with their grief over my 'lost' brothers.
I was reminded of this quote from the book 'For one more Day' by Mitch Albom. It goes: ..'But there's a story behind everything. How a picture got on a wall. How a scar got on your face. Sometimes the stories are simple, and sometimes they are hard and heart breaking. But behind all your stories is always your mother's story.....".......
