The Yellow's on the Broom-Mewslade

'The Yellow's on the Broom' are lyrics to a Scottish Folksong. In Wales we called 'broom' by another word i.e 'gorse'. But what's in a name? for the picture's just the same. Here's one from an afternoon out at Mewslade on the Gower Coast; Easter Monday 2008 to be precise.

St David's Day - March 1st

We decided to shoot off up the M4 on Sat 1st March to the Cardiff Bay area for no other reason that it's a great place to take photos, with its unusual modern architecture, such as this - The Milennium Centre.

We'd expected to see a few traditonal Welsh events going on seeing as it was St David's Day. However, little did we know that we'd end up bang in the Middle of the annual St David's Day parade in Cardiff because this year for the first time the route had been extended so that it ended up at the Senedd i.e. The Welsh National Assembly buildings.

Spectacular photos of location shots for the Torchwood TV series and of the parade itself can be viewed HERE but I just have to spill that these ladies dressed in traditional costume, on walking away after the civic dignitaries' speeches, were heard by me 'n 'im to be speaking in English accents - the damn cheek of it !

Likewise this pretty daffodil at Mermaid Quay.....
